Dear Republican,
Yes, I just used the "R" word. Thanks for your interest in the Berkeley College Republicans. Our club welcomes moderates, libertarians, and conservatives alike. Believe it or not, curious Democrats and even an occasional liberal observer will wander into our events too. What ultimately unites us is our goal to see a vocal and strong Republican Party everywhere from Cal to Washington, D.C. Berkeley College Republicans, also known as BCR for short, is well known for fostering viewpoints that contrast the notoriously far-left reputation of U.C. Berkeley. For all you Freshmen, we all know your parents were concerned you would come to Berkeley and become an instant hippie. Well, don't worry. Just stick with us.
We are the preeminent anti-establishment force at U.C. Berkeley and proud of it. There are a few major elements of BCR that you should know about. The first is our political involvement. We intern on campaigns, attend Republican state conventions, network with other Republicans, have weekly meetings to discuss current events and are visited by a wide variety of great speakers throughout the year. And that stereotype about uptight Republicans is a complete fallacy, especially here. Our club prides itself on being social. We have weekly dinners, get together at each other's pads for parties, laugh at the Communists on Sproul, and chill in our Eshleman office. Additionally, we engage in charitable work as well, in which we raise money and volunteer our time to various organizations and causes.
There is simply no better time to get involved in BCR in recent memory than now. Republican victories swept the nation on Election Day and the Republicans are currently organizing to deliver Barack Obama another "shellacking" in 2012. This is your chance to be part of a new Republican ascendency.
Our meetings are held at 7 p.m. in 185 Barrows every Thursday.
